An inspiring collection of unique blues sounds are coming to Sisters, Oregon for the Sisters Rhythm and Brews Festival this July 26th and 27th. In the mix, we are welcoming three delightful groups hailing from Portland, Oregon.
Often called punk blues, this duo brings new elements into familiar blues music. With Hurricane Henry on guitar and Lord Johnny Buckets on percussion (read: buckets), their sounds vary from subdued musical explorations to powerful punk ballads. Fans love each of their seven albums but rave about the raw, unrehearsed punk/blues improvisation that happens on stage at each concert. Catch their original song, “Cardiac Arrest in D,” in the third season of Sons of Anarchy.
Coming to the stage with a roots sound all their own, Sassparilla embodies the soul of the blues with lyrics inspired by the joys and sorrows of daily life. The six-person band plays a delightful collection of instruments, from the washtub bass and cigar box guitar to the harmonica and accordion. Their concerts take on a campfire quality with singing and dancing throughout the audience.
With just a banjo or multitasking with a drum pedal under each foot, McDougall is a one-man band always on the move. Scott McDougall takes his music with him on long trips through the wilderness and the concrete jungle, exploring what it is to live with two eyes open. Relax and take in grounded country/bluegrass sound.
